Play anytime, without having to drive to the court or find a partner.
Now you can practice tennis anytime without having to find a partner. Practice in
your driveway with the StrokeMaster Soft Touch Backboard.
Go ahead, hit as hard as you can.
With a conventional backboard, if you hit hard the ball bounces away. Not the
StrokeMaster Backboard! Slam away as hard as you like and the ball still comes
back nice and easy. Then you can drill the ball again!
The secret is a layer of foam.
A unique layer of foam decreases the rebound and gives an incredibly consistent
bounce. We tested dozens of foams to find just the right type and amount of foam.
The foam doesn't just decrease the rebound - it gives an incredibly consistent
rebound. The ball actually embeds in the foam and is thrown back at you by the
rebound of the foam, not the rebound of the ball itself. The result is an
incredibly consistent rebound. The foam decreases the rebound on a hard-hit ball.
It actually adds a little to the rebound of a soft-hit ball. And it decreases
the angles, because the ball embeds in the foam and tends to get thrown straight
back out by the foam. The result is the ball comes back to nearly the same spot
every time. The foam also makes it incredibly quiet. We guarantee it is the
quietest backboard on the market - by far.
Great exercise. Great practice.
Because the foam decreases the rebound and gives an incredibly consistent rebound
to nearly the same spot every time, it is easy to have long rallies. First, because
the foam decreases the rebound, you stand closer to the backboard than you do to a
conventional backboard. That makes it easier to hit your target. Second, the
foam gives such a consistent rebound that you can use the same form and hit the
same shot time after time. Both those factors make it easy to have long rallies
without missing. You can really groove your strokes with perfect form every time.
Rallies tend to end, not when you miss and the ball gets away, but rather when
you are too tired to go on. Rallies of 20 or 30 shots in a row are common!
Think how tired you are after a point on the court that lasts for 20 shots.
That's how tired you can get hitting against the StrokeMaster Backboard. Its
fantastic exercise. You can be exhausted in 5 minutes. And it's much more fun
than going for a 20 minute run.
Save your garage.
Are your kids hitting against your garage, putting dents and marks all over the
garage and making enough noise to wake the dead - not to mention your neighbors?
The StrokeMaster Soft Touch Backboard will save your garage - and save your
friendship with your neighbors.
Portable.
One of the great things about the StrokeMaster Backboard is that it is portable.
It is light enough to just pick it up and move it around! You can move it on and
off your driveway when you want to practice. Or you can leave it in your yard
next to the driveway so the ball bounces on the driveway when you hit.
Play anywhere, even indoors.
The StrokeMaster Backboard is designed primarily for driveway use. But you can also
put it inside your garage, shut the garage door, and hit entirely inside a garage!
That is great in winter. (To hit inside a space as small as a standard garage,
you will want to get the optional deadening cover. This decreases the rebound by
a further 2-3 feet, which is just enough to allow you to play inside a standard
sized garage.) If you have a large basement, you could even play inside your basement.
The lean makes for a more realistic arc of the ball.
The StrokeMaster Backbard has a unique backward lean. This results in the ball
bouncing back at a slightly higher arc than with a conventional backboard. In
a real rally on the tennis court, the ball clears the net by 4 feet or more most
of the time. So the ball is dropping from a high height when it comes to you.
With the backward lean, the StrokeMaster Soft Touch Backboard gives a better
approximation of the arc you get on a tennis court than a conventional perfectly
vertical backboard.
Teaches you good tennis habits.
The StrokeMaster Backboard is designed with a net and open space below the hitting
surface. That helps to teach you to clear the net. You get into the good tennis
habit of hitting the ball with adequate net clearance.
Space requirements.
When hitting against the StrokeMaster Soft Touch Backboard you stand with the
center of your body about 20 feet from the backboard. Taking into account your
backswing and the depth of the stand behind the backboard, that means you need a
space about 27 feet long to use the backboard. With the optional deadening cover,
the rebound is decreased so that you only need about 23 feet of space. That
difference can be important to allow you to use the backboard inside a garage or
other confined space. Since the deadening cover allows you to stand closer to
the backboard, it can also be good for beginners to help them gain more confidence
until they can hit the backboard consistently from a greater distance. The width
of the backboard is 6 feet. Taking into account the follow through on your
swing, you probably want to have a space at least about 10 feet wide to use
the backboard. The height of the backboard is 7 feet.
Easy storage.
In the Deluxe StrokeMaster Backboard, the legs are detachable. That allows
easy storage of the backboard in the off season. The Build-It-Yourself
version can also be disassembled just by removing 4 bolts for easy storage
along the wall of your garage or in a similar confined space.
Durable, weather-proof construction.
The StrokeMaster Backboard is built to stand up to the biggest hitters.
(Yes, we are talking about you.) It is also built to stand up to wind,
rain, sun, and years of use. The Deluxe version has a durable plastic backing
layer and coated steel frame and legs. All connectors are stainless steel.
A fabric cover protects the foam from the sun at all times. A sturdy vinyl
rain cover protects the backboard when not in use.

Do-It-Yourself
and save. Our Build-It-Yourself version uses the same stainless steel connectors,
and the same sturdy foam,
fabric cover, and vinyl rain cover as the Deluxe version. You supply a sheet of plywood and a few
pieces of lumber. The lumber and plywood will last for years. If you choose to paint them,
they will last even longer.
